Mets 58-61 vs D-Backs 67-53 Preview

Chris Capuano 9-10, 4.51 ERA
Jason Marquis 8-6, 4.48 ERA

New York has lost four straight and 10 of 13 to fall three games below .500 for the first time since June 21. They also haven’t been four games under the break-even mark since June 4, when they were 27-31. Saturday's loss was overshadowed by a story that was in The New York Post earlier in the day that quoted
Pelfrey saying, "It's unrealistic for anybody at the end of last year to come in and say, 'The Mets, this is a one-year thing, next year we're going to win it all ... It's unrealistic." “I said something that was misinterpreted,” said Pelfrey.

Pelfrey should own up to his words and be a better pitcher instead of saying things like that with this kind of media in New York. Regardless if the quote was misinterpreted or not, Pelfrey should know that coming into this season he was the teams Ace, with that being said he should have a least pitched like one. Nothing good is going to come out of this and it will be with this team until the end of the season.

Wright and Bay were each 0 for 4 on Saturday but could have get a better chance today against Jason Marquis. Wright is hitting .406 lifetime against Marquis, while Bay is batting .372 with five homers and four doubles in 43 at-bats against him. Also with rumors of Marquis would like to play in New York next season, we will see if that distracts him from his start. Chris Capuano will be opposing Marquis on the hill as he looks to get the Mets back in the win column. Chris Capuano is 1-3 with a 3.77 ERA in six games versus the Diamondbacks but hasn’t started against them since 2007.
