According to Andy Martino of New York Daily News, Jason Marquis first want it understood that he is focused on the Arizona Diamondbacks, and their pennant race. Whenever that ends, though, the New York native will turn his attention home, and once again wonder about the Mets.
Marquis is currently 8-6 with a 4.48 ERA on the season, but is just 0-1, 12.38 ERA in two starts with the Diamondbacks since joining them in a trade from the Washington Nationals. Here is a look on how Marquis stands up to the NL East should the Mets sign him this off-season.

With the struggles Jason Marquis has pitching against the NL East I do not believe he is very appealing to Sandy Alderson. Although with the uncertainty of Johan Santana's status, Mike Pelfrey's struggles and a team starting ERA of 4.06, he certainly could be an option. With the rebuilding process now in effect for the New York Mets, would Sandy Alderson take a chance on this veteran righty? He has had post-season experience and could be a leader in the clubhouse as well. Would a one year contract be enough for Jason Marquis to come to Queens? Marquis is a native of Manhasset, NY and would love nothing more then playing for his hometown of New York. Would be something special not only for Marquis but for him to pitch in front of his family and friends. I personally would take a shot a Marquis for the simple fact he couldn't be any worse then Pelfrey. Also pitching in a pitcher friendly ballpark such as Citi Field, could most certainly help Marquis to his full potential.
