New York Mets say they are not giving up on 2011 despite Franciso Rodriguez trade http://dlvr.it/b4NPs
As we all know, yesterday after the all-star game, GM Sandy Alderson made a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers by sending RP Francisco Rodriguez in exchange for two players to be named later. Quoted by Alderson himself, "I certainly would not draw any conclusions from this transaction." We all know K-Rod was in the final year of his 3-years $37M contract. Which had a vesting option for $17.5M if he finished at 55 games. K-Rod is owed a $3.5 million buyout if the option does not vest. Rodriguez currently has 34 games finished so far this season and was on pace to surpass the 55 games. Alderson also went on to say, ""I think clearly we now can look forward to in 2012 to considerably more payroll flexibility," he said. "That flexibility to allocate our resources will be very important to us (going into) next season."
K-Rod on the season was 2-2 with a 3.16 ERA and 23 saves. Also has 291 saves and a 2.54 ERA with the Angels and Mets in his career. We wish you well K-Rod on whatever you do in your future and your time here with the Mets has come to a close. K-Rod was well known by the fans as giving them Heart attacks everytime he came into a game. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly best describes Frankies stay here in New York.
