Pelfrey Steps-Up Big in win vs Rockies

We can finally see this team coming together the past four games. The Mets have been scoring runs in bunches and the scoring has not let up. Another key reason for this four game win streak has been the starting pitching. The past four games the pitching has been lights out, here and there hiccups but the offense kicked it into high gear. Taking the first two games on the series versus the wild card leading Rockies is huge. Picking up two games in the wild card standings is big, being only five and a half games out now shows we have a chance. Especially overcome the recent drama that unfolded yesterday shows they team can overcome adversity.

Summary of the Game:

First innings have always been a problem for Pelfrey and today's game showed it. Although Pelfrey got into some trouble in the first he was able to get out of the jam without giving up a run. Mets took there first lead in the bottom of the second with an RBI single by Jeff Francoeur scoring Castillo from second. Next inning Big Pelf got the Rockies out 1-2-3 allowing the Mets in the bottom half to tact on another run by RBI single from Castillo. Mets tacted on two more runs in the 4th inning and 8th inning. Wright has been getting some more hits, Castillo has been coming around from a poor last season. The Mets are on to something good and us Mets fans can finally feel good about this inning.

Pelfrey's final Line:

6.1IP 7H 0R 0ER 3BB 5K lowering his era to 4.72.

Mets have looked really good the past four games scoring runs, playing good defense and good pitching. On this four game winning streak the Mets have score 29 runs, while only giving up 9 runs to the opposing team. "Ya Gotta Believe" is definitely the quote many Mets fans are starting to believe now. Just remember the 1969 Mets, overcame the odds and made it to the playoffs to then win the World Series. Johan Santana (11-8 3.12era) takes the hill tomorrow for the amazing against Jason Hammel (5-5 4.28era).
