Mets Defeat Braves 12-2, Behind 20 Hit Attack

The Mets matched their season high with 20 hits tonight against the Wild Card leading Atlanta Braves, which ending their six game losing streak. Chris Capuano pitch five quality innings giving up two runs on six hits. Capuano earned his second win in nearly three weeks dating back to August 26th, when he went 9 innings in a complete game, 13 strikeout performances against these same Braves. David Wright drove in 5 runs and homered twice in the game for the Mets, who have responded from the criticism of the manager Terry Collins, beating Derek Lowe 12-2.

In the four game series against the Nationals, the Mets managed to only score just five runs. By the fourth inning of tonight's opener against the Atlanta Braves, David Wright had accounted for that many by himself, and the Mets run prodcution was already double from their last series. Tonight marked the first time the Mets had more than nine runs in a game since August 6th against the Braves. The Mets scored as many runs tonight as they've scored in their previous five games and their 12 runs tonight was a franchise record ever at Turner Field. They never have good luck when they play the Braves on the road, but tonight the Amazing stepped up to the plate and have the performance manager Terry Collins has been preaching since day one. The bullpen allowed just one walk in four scoreless innings of relief.
