Mets Tuesday lineup at Florida: Reyes-SS, Turner-2B, Duda-RF, Wright-3B, Pagan-CF, Harris-LF, Evans-1B, Paulino-C, Batista-RHP
Yesterday's loss to the Marlins was the Mets 3rd defeat in their last 11 games, they will send 40-year-old RHP Miguel Batista to the mound tonight. Batista made his Mets debut last Thursday against the Marlins, in which he held them to two runs over 6 innings of work. He earned his 100th victory of his career. Batista made his MLB debut back in 1992 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. “I’m very proud of my career,” said Batista, who appeared in nine games for Florida in 1996. He will start at Sun Life Stadium for the final time in his career and it will be his 1st time their since he took a loss with the Diamondbacks on July 28, 2003.
Chris Capunao surrendered six earned runs yesterday, matching a season-worst and only last just four innings against the Marlins. In his last two starts, Capuano has not made it past the fifth inning. Since pitching a complete-game shutout and career high 13 strikeouts, Capuano has struggled to go at least 6-7 innings in his last 2 starts. In other news, Jason Bay homered in the ninth inning, giving him his second homerun in the last 3 games and his 11th on the season.
David Wright has extended his hitting streak to nine games in which he is hitting 14-for-30 (.467) over that span. Jose Reyes isn't a fan of taking days off and the Mets might have a hard time sitting him again this month. Reyes sat out Sunday's game, while he sat, Brewers's OF Ryan Braun took over the NL batting lead from Reyes, .335 to .333. Reyes went 1-for-4 last night lowering his batting average to .332. In Sunday's win over the Nationals, Lucas Duda homered for the ninth time this season. His homerun tied the game and was the fifth time this year that he had gone yard to tie the game or give the Mets the lead. All of this homeruns (9) have come in the second half of this season, but he still has a long way to catch the franchise record for homeruns in the second half by a rookie. Darryl Strawberry in 1983 hit 18 second half homeruns.

- Ike Davis announced that after resuming workouts, he felt, while not 100 percent, good enough to put off surgery to repair the bone bruise in his left ankle joint.
Quoted by Ike Davis: "I would say that it's not 100 percent right now. It's not like I just woke up and then it's all healed."
