Johan Santana started his rehab assignment for the Savannah Sand Gnats during their current playoff series against the Augusta GreenJackets. More than 3,400 people came to Historic Grayson Stadium tonight to see Johan make his rehab start. Blake Forsythe hit a pinch-hit double in the 8th inning giving the Sand Gnats a 3-2 lead and eventually went on to win and evening the series at 1 to force a deciding game 3 on Saturday in Savannah.

Johan allowed an unearned run in 3 innings of work. He struggled with his control at times and his fastball did not break the 90MPH in his 3 innings of work. Santana left the game trailing 1-0, but a couple of throwing errors from the GreenJackets starter Shawn Sanford allowed runs to score in the 4th and 5th inning to give the Sand Gnats the lead.
