Johan Santana pitched three innings tonight for the Savannah Sand Gnats against the Augusta Green Jackets in the South Atlantic League Playoffs. In his rehab start, Santana gave up one hit, a walk and an error in the second inning. He left the game with the Gnats trailing 1-0. Johan threw a total of 39 pitches which include his fastball, change-up and slider.
Terry Collins - "He is an ace," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "He's an ace. Period. I've heard too many stories about how he's pitched even when he wasn't 100 percent, still pitched great. If his health is good, I know that with his competitiveness, his ability to command the baseball, he'll be as good as we've got."
