Mike Pelfrey faced his nemesis in the Florida Marlins and pitched well but not good enough. Pelf went six inning, while giving up 3 runs, 2 of which were earned. The Mets trailed 3-1 going into the 9th inning against Marlins' closer Leo Nunez. Pagan doubled to shallow right center but was close to being thrown out at second on a bang bang play. Lucas Duda came up to bat, he homered to deep center tying the game at 3.

Going into the 10th tie at 3, Mike Stanton came up with the bases loaded against Jason Iringhausen. Stanton took an Isringhausen 88-MPH cutter deep to left field, erasing Duda's tying 2-run homerun to give the Marlins a 7-3 lead. Mets had a chance to pick up a game on the Braves but failed to do so. Chris Capuano (9-10, 4.51 ERA) takes the hill for the Mets against the Marlins and Brad Hand (1-3, 2.73 ERA).
