Mets fall under .500 again with a 4-1 loss to Atlanta

A game in which the Mets needed to win badly, could only manage scoring one run on 4 hits in a 4-1 loss. Mets have dipped yet again under the .500 mark (55-56) and are now 9 games out of the wild card. Mets have scored 26 runs in the first 3 games without Carlos Beltran. They also have managed to score only  9 runs in 6 games since then. Dickey pitched seven quality innings giving up 2 earned on five hits. He struck out five while walking none.

Dan Uggla extended his career-best hitting streak to 26 games with a two-run single in the eighth inning. With that hit, Uggla gave the Braves a 4-1 lead. Freddie Freeman also extended his hitting streak to 19 games with a double in the 8th inning.

After a five-game winning streak that seem to get the Mets on the right track, the Mets have now lost five in a row. David Wright continued his hot hitting since returning from the disabled list in the first inning which a double off the left-center field wall. Murphy scored from first to give the Mets a 1-0 lead in the first. In 13 games since coming off the disabled list, he's 22-54 (.407) with 2HRs and 14 RBIs. Dan Uggla is now 0-for-18 lifetime against Dickey.

Jonathon Niese (10-8, 3.94 ERA) takes the hill for the Mets in hopes to end their slide. Opposing Niese is Tommy Hanson (11-6, 3.20 ERA).
