With the Braves losing 9-3 to the Nationals, the Mets were in a key spot where they could have picked up a game on Atlanta. This was a crucial win for the Mets and once again the bullpen could not lock it down. As that being said the Mets have lost for the fourth straight game, hoping to salvage the series against the Marlins tomorrow. Mets have the day off on Thursday as the get set for a 3-game series against the Braves starting on Friday. Mets are back at the .500 mark with 55-55 on the season. In order for the Mets to honestly have a realistic chance of making the post-season they need to start focusing on winning and not blowing leads. I really would like to see what Alderson has in store for 2012 in regards to a closer. Could it be Bobby Parnell, Pedro Beato or would he look to free agency or trade? We won't know for sure until the off-season, but the Mets really need to start locking down these crucial games down the stretch.
Dillon Gee (10-3, 3.69) takes the ball tomorrow for the Mets, has he looks for his 11th winning of the season. Opposing Gee is righty Clay Hensley (1-3, 3.09).
Game Notes:
- Hanley Ramirez left the game in pain after spraining his left shoulder while diving for a ball in the outfield. He is day to day.
- Omar Infante hit a pair of solo shots
- Reyes homered
