The New York Mets enter a critical 3-game series against the Braves, in which can dictate the Mets stance on the wild card position. Entering today the Mets are currently 8 games back in the wild card with Cardinals and Diamondbacks still ahead of them. They likely scenario that can happen this weekend is if the Mets take two out of three or even sweep the Braves to pull in between 5-6 games of the lead. With the Phillies never losing at this rate, the wild card is the only option the Mets have if they wanna make the post season.

Dickey gave up one run over eight innings to earn the victory on June 5th against the Braves, but comes into this start with two wins in his last 10 outings. The only other win for R.A came on July 25th against Cincinnati. “There’s no question R.A. has deserved to win more games than he has,” manager Terry Collins told his team’s official website.

Dickey has proved successful against Atlanta’s two hottest hitters in Dan Uggla and Freddie Freeman. Uggla and Freeman are a combined 1-for-20 against the knuckleballer. Dan Uggla has a career .223 average against New York and is batting .147 in nine games his season. Freeman is hitting .364 in seven games against the Mets this season.
