Justin Turner's 2HRs Help Mets over Braves 11-7

The Mets ended there 5-game skid Saturday as Justin Turner homered twice with an 11-7 victory over the Atlanta Braves. Mets hammered out 16 hits with Jason Bay and Josh Thole joining in on the homerun bashing. This marked the first time the Mets hit four homeruns in a game since May 7, 2010 against the San Francisco Giants. Also its the 3rd time in Franchise history they have homerun four times in a game, another came on April 9, 2010 against the Nationals.

"It feels good," said Justin Turner. "We had a rough inning when they put up five runs, and I'm sure most of the people watching the game were probably thinking, 'Here we go again.' We're not that type of team. We're going to dig in and fight for nine innings. Obviously we had a really good night offensively."

The Mets ranked third in the National League in first-inning runs coming into Saturday and added two runs off of Tommy Hanson. Justin Turner snapped a 48-game homerless streak with a solo shot to right-center in the 1st inning and added another one in the 4th. Jon Niese gave up a season-high 10 hits, but managed to get through five innings of work. He allowed 5 runs while striking out six while earning his 11th victory of the season. Mets are currently 8 games behind the Braves in the wild card as they picked up a game with a win today. Dillon Gee (10-3, 3.69 ERA) takes the mound for the Mets as they look to win the rubber game of the series and pick up yet another game on the Braves. Opposing Gee, is Braves pitcher Mike Minor (1-2, 4.59 ERA).
