Duda's Walk-off Single in the 9th Beats Padres 9-8

Mike Pelfrey looked good for the first 5 innings but ran into some trouble in the 6th inning. With a 4-1 lead going into the 6th, Pelfrey gave up 4 hits and 3 runs erasing a 3-run lead. Both Pedro Beato and Ryoto Igarashi struggled going 1 2/3 innings surrendering four runs on two hits. Jason Isringhausen pitched a scoreless night setting the stage for a late Mets rally. The Mets dealt with yet another dose of discouraging injury news on Monday and responded with one of their most wild comebacks in recent memory.

Duda's two run RBI single capped a three-run ninth against Padres closer Heath Bell, as the Mets rally past the Padres 9-8 to get back to the .500 mark. Pagan, Wright and Bay all homered for the Mets as they started off the game hot and end with a wild finish. After a day in which the Mets placed Jose Reyes and Daniel Murphy on the disabled list, Mets showed some resilience in comeback from an 8-6 deficit going into the bottom of the 9th inning. Wright also made two outstanding plays at third base. New York, which had lost six of seven, moved back to .500 (57-57).

Quoted by David Wright:  "We lose Jose (Reyes). We lose (Daniel) Murphy. We know it's going to be a tremendous uphill battle to score runs. But like I said, there's going to be another game tomorrow, and we're going to have to go out there and find a way to win."

Player of the Game: Lucas Duda for going 3-for-5 and two of the most important RBIs coming in the 9th inning.
