The facial expression on Mr. Met says it all for the New York Mets and the kind of season there having. At 42-46, 4 games under .500 and now 7.5 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies, is there hope for this team. They have been hit with injuries since the season began and will this team ever get back to full strength like they were in 2006?
Yesterday's game showed how this team doesn't have enough fire-power to beat the braves in an error-less game by the Mets. The top of the 4th inning showed that the Mets had what it took to take the lead but giving up the lead in the bottom half of the inning showed how Perez is very inconsistent.
I believe Omar Minaya has waited a little to long in finding a trade to help this team now. At this point would it help now if we got Matt Holliday? Would his bat help us in the line-up? I don't see this happening for the simple fact that if we cannot get good pitching out of our starters, its even harder for this team to score runs. Mayb if there was a possibility we get Roy Halladay and Alex Rios would this help the team now? Yes and No because while having Halladay and Rios could help this team now, it will deplete our farm system. I hope there is promise ahead for the New York Mets because it hurts day-in and day-out watching this team continue to play like this.
Speaking to Mets fans through twitter and in person during games, they feel like the direction of this team is for the worse. They feel a trade should have came when all of these injured players went on the DL. Posted by John O'Rourke of Metsmerized.com “Losing is a disease. …as contagious as polio. Losing is a disease. …as contagious as syphilis. Losing is a disease. …as contagious as bubonic plague. Attacking one. … but infecting all. I could not agree more with what John has wrote bout the Mets. If the struggles continue what will the Mets do now at this point. Will they trade there Veterans for younger players? Will they become sellers and prepare for 2010? If we need to win at least 48 games to make the playoffs, we need to brush off yesterday's loss and start a new win streak.
