Dale Thayer Elects to become a Free Agent

According to Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork, relief pitcher Dale Thayer, who was recently removed from the 40-man roster last week, has decided to become a free agent.

Thayer went 0-3 with a 3.48 ERA in 11 appearances for the New York Mets this season. In 54 relief appearances for Triple-A Affiliate Buffalo, he went 4-3 with a 2.66 ERA. In 71 innings of work he allowed 54 hits, walked 15 and struck out 66.
