Josh Thole: bruised left wrist, left the September 1st game after he was hit by a pitch. X-rays were negative, but he was scheduled to see a hand specialist on September 2nd.

Ruben Tejada: bruised left hand, left the September 1st game after he was hit by a pitch for the second time. X-rays were negative.

Jon Niese: strained right intercostal muscle, went on the 15-day disabled list Aug. 24.

Scott Hairston: strained left oblique, went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Aug. 24.

Daniel Murphy: torn left medial collateral ligament, went on the 15-day disabled list Aug. 8 and was transferred to the 60-day DL on September 1st. He will have a four-month recovery period and is done for the season.

Taylor Buchholz: right shoulder fatigue, went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 30. He was dealing with depression and anxiety issues as of August 1st, GM Sandy Alderson said, and he is probably out for the season.

Ike Davis: sprained left ankle and bone bruise, went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 11th. Davis was unable to work out on the field for the second straight day in Port St. Lucie, Fla., on May 26th, and further examination showed that the bone bruise isn't healing. He was told to stop all attempts at running and keep the foot in a boot until mid-June. He received a cortisone injection in mid-July. He was examined during the first weekend of August and was shut down another four weeks, which means his season is over. Microfracture surgery is still a possibility.

Johan Santana: left shoulder surgery in September 2010, went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 22, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on May 8. He had begun throwing in spring training, and he threw from the top of a mound for the first time May 23rd. He was shut down June 3rd when he tried to increase the intensity of his workouts, and he had to go back to long tossing. He threw off a mound on June 29th. He made a rehab start for St. Lucie on July 28th, but renewed discomfort caused him to be scratched from his next rehab appearance. After an August 4th exam in New York, he was diagnosed with shoulder fatigue and was shut down from throwing until his shoulder feels better. He was back in Port St. Lucie, Fla., to work out in mid-August, but there is a chance he won't make it to the majors this season.

Chris Young: torn capsule in right shoulder) went on the 15-day disabled list May 8th, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on June 3rd. He had season-ending surgery May 16th.
