Mets lose to Nats 3-0

Jason Marquis was the schedule starter for tonight's game but was scratch because he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Yunesky Maya was called up from Triple-A Syracuse as his replacement. Maya pitched 5.1 innings of five hit ball and the Mets couldn't capitalize on runs. The Mets have scored 38 runs in there five game winning streak, but were held scoreless for the 1st time since July 7th, in a 7-0 loss to the Dodgers. The Mets were shutout for the fifth time this season and ended a five-game winning streak.

Jayson Werth scored the only runs for the Nats with a 3-run homer in the 1st off of R.A Dickey. Mets had plenty of chances to score in the game but fail to get the runs in. Tomorrow's starters Jon Niese (10-8, 3.97 ERA) vs Jordan Zimmermann (6-9, 3.27 ERA) face each other in the rubber game. Mets are looking to win their 4th series of July as they head into a 10-game home-stand at Citi on Monday.
