Wright to Philadelphia? ESPN Stark's says Phillies like Wright

“The Phillies like David Wright. They have talked about David Wright. Are they really going to be able to make a deal for David Wright? Are the Mets really going to deal him to the Phillies? I mean, those are big questions. But, I’ve heard David Wright’s name for some time. Whether it happens is another story. But, the Phillies like him. It would have to be a gigantic deal. And, where are the pieces left in the Phillies system to make that deal? It’s unlikely, but don’t ignore it, because the Phillies have talked about it.” - John Starks

Phillies skipper Charlie Manuel has told the organization that after the post-season that his team should seek an upgrade at third base. Currently the Phillies have Placido Polanco who will be earing $6.25M next season and will be in the final year of his contract. The worse possible case scenerio that could happen is David Wright being trade to the bitter rivals of the Mets. In order for that to actually happen, Sandy Alderson would have to be blown away by an offer in which i do not believe the Phillies farm has enough of that talent. Another worse case scenerio if Wright gets traded to Philadelphia, what if Jose Reyes signs with them? How much suffering and pain with our Mets fan base have to endure seeing our left side of the infield playing with the Phillies.

The question is with teams inquiring about David Wright this season, will 2011 be the final year both David Wright and Jose Reyes are in a Mets uniform? Wright still has another year on his contract, as well as a option in 2013. As for Reyes, he hits free agency this off-season and who knows how much money he will demand or how much he is willing to take a home-town discount and stay a New York Met for the rest of his career as he once stated. This 2011 off-season is by far the hardest one to deal with being a Mets fan for the simple fact it could be quite possible this is the last time we can see either Jose Reyes and David Wright in a Mets uniform. Although i still have a strong feeling that Jose Reyes will be re-signed and David Wright will sign a contract extension later on in the 2012 season. As Mets fans we cannot lose hope regardless of how hard or how bad our team struggles, as I've always said, "I Bleed Orange and Blue" and the rest of our Mets fan base should say the same thing. Once and Mets fan always a Mets fan, better days will come and hopefully we can see the left side of our infield, Jose Reyes and David Wright, for many years to come.
