Fernando Martinez will have surgery on his right knee to repair a torn meniscus. Time table for his possible return is about six to eight weeks. Even a 20-year old joins the injuried plaqued team and also goes on the DL. Hopefully he can recover well and get back to baseball activities.
John Maine threw live batting practice to Jose Reyes. In about ten days Maine should be getting into a game pitching. Minaya said on the possibility of Reyes and Maine coming back could be at the end of this month. Reyes has been doing some running drills down in Port St. Luice. "We hopefully will get him on the basepaths soon," Minaya said about Reyes.
Carlos Delgado is swinging at bat and his return is somewhere in mid-August.
Carlos Beltran still has a significant enough bone bruise in his right knee where he is still unable to run or jog. "It hasn’t gone down sufficient enough to get to an area where he can start sprinting and playing," Minaya said.
Billy Wagner doesn't think he'll be setting up Francisco Rodriguez if and when Wagner makes his long-awaited comeback from Tommy John surgery later this season, the NY Post reports. Wagner is expected to return as soon as next month from Tommy John surgery performed last September.
In my opinion on Wagner's return, He can certainly help the bullpen if he has he old stuff back. Who knows how well he will preform coming back from Tommy John surgery. Hope for the best for him and hope he and help this team down the stretch.
I also hope Reyes, Beltran and Delgado can come back soon enough to help this team win. I still believe we have a chance to either win the division or win the wildcard. Is it going to be hard to do so, YES, but if we play smart, errorless baseball we can achieve our goal.
